Rusfond sues Friske family

A year and a half after the death of the famous singer Zhanna Friske, Rusfond has finally decided to sue the family of the artist over their refusal to return funds that were not spent on the performer's treatment.

The charitable foundation had been trying for a long time to reach an agreement with the artist's family. In 2016, a statement was even filed with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation regarding the misappropriation of funds. At the same time, the singer's father claimed that no one had approached him for expense reports and that he had all the documentation in his possession.

Now, however, the organisation has filed a lawsuit in court. This is justified by the principles of Rusfond's operations, which it has adhered to for two decades. According to these principles, funds must be spent only on providing medical assistance. All expenses must be confirmed by reports, which did not happen in this case.

It is worth noting that more than 68 million rubles were raised for Zhanna Friske. At the artist's request, 30 million of them were directed towards the treatment of eight children. The remaining funds were transferred to the performer's accounts. The family reported expenses of only five million. Now Rusfond wants to find out the fate of the remaining funds, recover the unspent amounts, and direct them to the treatment of sick children.

The foundation's representatives understand that the court proceedings will touch upon delicate issues that will attract media attention, but in this case, it is impossible to avoid publicity.

Until the court's decision, Rusfond intends to refrain from commenting.
