On this trip, we were evacuating a priest, and moreover, a monk, from Pesky. For three weeks, he had been supporting the soldiers with prayer. A kind, handsome, and radiant person.
Well, as I tell him
- Father, we might have to swear. (Father, we might have to swear.)
- Так вiйна ж. (It is war, after all.)
- Отче,мы ще й куримо. (Father, we also smoke.)
- Так вiйна ж. (It is war, after all.)
He had simple explanations for everything.
We were also taking a repeater to the DUK (we needed communication), and to avoid too many questions at the checkpoints and to prevent them from asking for the valuable item, I would say
- We are coming from Pesky, taking a priest to the base. (We are coming from Pesky, taking a priest to the base.)
And then, at one point, our kind fellow passenger says:
- Все правильно, хай пан отця iзимають, а зв'язок злим правосэкам потрiбен. © Ксения Быкова (Everything is correct, let them take the Father, but the communication is needed by the angry pro-Russian loyalists. © Ksenia Bykova)
