Russian journalist granted Ukrainian citizenship

Well-known Russian journalist Viktor Maistrenko, remembered by many for his efforts to free Ukrainian citizens from separatist captivity, has become a full citizen of Ukraine. Viktor was granted Ukrainian citizenship. He announced this on his online page.

Viktor Maistrenko is from Kovrov in Vladimir Oblast. While living in Russia, the journalist was not afraid to wear a vyshyvanka, nor to risk his life by travelling to territories occupied by separatists to help free hostages.
