Russia refuses to restructure Ukraine's debt

As expected, the Russian Federation has refused to restructure Ukraine's debt. This was stated in an interview by Deputy Finance Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Storchak.

Moreover, Russia expects Ukraine to make another payment on loans issued under the Yanukovych regime as early as next month.

To date, the Russian Federation is one of the largest holders of Ukrainian bonds. Their value stands at $3 billion.

The country's external debt grew by $2.4 billion in March of this year, representing an increase of approximately 8.3%. It reached nearly $33 billion.

At the same time, in accordance with the requirements of the International Monetary Fund, Ukraine must save at least $15 billion on servicing its external debt over the next four years.

It is worth recalling that the Russian Deputy Finance Minister had previously not ruled out the possibility of his country participating in financial support for Ukraine, although no one in our country harboured any illusions on this matter.
