Poland ready to become key ally for Ukraine on path to EU

Donald Tusk, leader of the opposition Polish party Civic Platform and former President of the European Council, stated that Poland is ready to actively support Ukraine's European integration. 

He noted that his country intends to make the most of its upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union to advance Ukraine on its path to EU accession.

Poland's historical mission
Tusk emphasised that Poland bears a special historical responsibility for strengthening ties between Ukraine and the European Union. In his words, Warsaw can play the role of a key ally in this process, helping Ukraine overcome all bureaucratic and political barriers.

European integration as a strategic goal
In the politician's view, Ukraine's integration into the EU will be not only an important step for Ukraine itself but will also strengthen Europe as a whole. He noted that, given the current challenges related to security and stability in the region, the expansion of the union and support for Ukraine are of paramount importance for the future of the European community.

Presidency priority
Donald Tusk stated that the issue of Ukraine's accession to the European Union would become Poland's top priority during its presidency of the Council of the EU. He also expressed confidence that supporting Ukraine should become a common task for all member states of the union.

Support for Ukraine is not only a political duty but also a contribution to regional stability, Tusk stressed, concluding his speech.
