Suspicions of murder in death of ChatGPT developer: mother accuses police of staging the scene and being bribed

In late autumn 2024, the world was shocked by the tragic news of the death of 26-year-old Sushir Balaji, a developer who worked on projects for the company OpenAI. 

However, shortly after his body was found in the apartment, questions began to arise about what actually happened. The engineer's mother, Purnima Ramarao, claims that her son's death was carefully staged and that investigators, in her opinion, deliberately ignored evidence pointing to a possible murder.

Unusual circumstances of Balaji's death

According to the official version, Balaji took his own life, however, discrepancies were revealed during a private investigation. The bullet, which authorities claim hit the engineer in the head, entered at an angle of 30–45 degrees, casting doubt on the suicide theory. Experts state that all signs indicate the shot was fired at the neck area from the side of the forehead, which is not typical for suicide cases.

In addition, bloodstains were found in the apartment where the dead Balaji was discovered, including remnants of a wig with hair that did not belong to the developer himself. These pieces of evidence, according to the deceased's mother, point to possible interference by third parties. 

The doctors who performed the initial autopsy also failed to notice a blunt trauma on the engineer's head, which could have been sustained during a struggle with an unknown attacker.

Anomalies in the investigation and inconsistencies in testimonies

In an interview with leading host Tucker Carlson, Ramarao highlighted a number of anomalies in the work of the investigative bodies. According to her, investigators were unable to quickly establish the cause of her son's death, and the process of identifying evidence took more than 15 minutes. One of the key points was the surveillance cameras installed at both exits from the apartment. As it turned out, they did not record the events taking place at the time of the developer's death.

Purnima Ramarao also noted that before his death, Sushir showed no signs of intent to commit suicide. He continued to work actively, building a career in the IT industry and was highly valued by his colleagues, while his reputation remained impeccable. Earlier in 2024, Balaji stated that the ChatGPT neural network violates copyright by training on materials posted on the internet and competing with their creators. OpenAI disagreed with these accusations, citing existing legal precedents.

Uncertainty in the case and connection to criticism of ChatGPT

Against the backdrop of these strange circumstances, the death of Sushir Balaji attracted the attention not only of investigators but also of the public. It is expected that further investigation may reveal additional details that could shed light on the true causes of the developer's death. 

Already, the case looks like a puzzle in which questions about the legality of the operations of major technology companies and the possible actions of those who decide to hide critical information are intertwined.
