Ukraine's National Police launch large-scale special operation to combat illegal channels for smuggling men across the border

The National Police of Ukraine have commenced large-scale measures aimed at curbing illegal border-crossing routes used by men of conscription age. According to the department, operatives from the Department of Strategic Investigations (DSI) and investigators simultaneously carried out more than 600 searches across the country.

First phase of the special operation
These actions constitute the initial phase of a comprehensive special operation designed to identify and dismantle organised groups engaged in the illegal smuggling of citizens across the border, bypassing official checkpoints.

Schemes and scale
Preliminary data indicates that hundreds of citizens subject to military service have managed to cross the border through such illegal channels. The organisers offered their services for substantial sums, allowing them to profit from the existing ban on men of conscription age leaving the country under martial law.

Nationwide scale
Operational and investigative actions have extended to all regions of Ukraine. Suspects involved in organising such channels are being checked for links to other criminal schemes.
