It is no longer a secret that fewer and fewer of the so-called militia members are willing to fight the mythical "Bandera followers". More and more fighters are trying either to lie low or flee the occupied territories abroad. And for some reason, they prefer not Russia, but Europe, which they hate so much.

Here is one such life story.

(My godfather from Serbia called. It just so happened that there are now plenty of former "DNR" supporters who have moved there. He told a story.)

(I met a former artilleryman from the "Dvor" group. His leg doesn't bend, his arm is damaged, he is missing two fingers, and the metal detector at the airport goes off on him... In short, you can see a man who has had "Russkiy Mir" (Russian World) as a guest. So my godfather asks:)

(- And what was all this for? You called in foreign troops, got weapons, blew up your own native home, and now you are here, in Serbia... Why?)

(- We didn't want that. The war is going on now because someone's house was hit by artillery, someone's relative was killed. We didn't want to fight; we wanted federalisation, to separate from the Kyiv oligarchs...)

(- And so you installed Putin's lackeys? Well, is it better now?)

(And then the "Dvor" fighter suddenly exploded:)

(- No, it's not better! It's worse! You know how much the war has worn us down? We are ready to do anything to stop it! We constantly talked to the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers about this, how to stop it! We would have a firefight, and their commander would call us and say: "Guys, my men just want to gather to eat, let's postpone the shelling for a couple of hours." And we stopped shooting! Because they were people we understood better than the Chechens who "reinforced" us, who were actually there to watch that we fought well. If we hadn't been pushed from behind – we would have reached an agreement long ago!)

(- Why can't you reach an agreement now?)

(- They don't allow it. That's why I left. Russia will keep pushing us from behind to make us fight, to make us violate the ceasefire, to go "liberate" new cities. When I realised this – I felt sick. And I left.)

(- And what now?)

(- I don't know what now. My wife and daughter died there. I am here. I used to be Ukrainian, wanted to become Russian, but became an outcast. I will try to live with this," Serge Marko told from his Facebook page.)

And for some reason, in this story, it is not the militia member who is pitiable, but the dead Ukrainian guys and their families, who are left without a husband, son, and father.
