Fraudsters embezzled funds intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The National Police of Ukraine have exposed a criminal group that embezzled 2.5 million hryvnia earmarked for the support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Fraudsters created dozens of fake social media accounts, posing as military personnel.

Using photographs of real documents belonging to Ukrainian servicemen, they posted advertisements for fundraising for the army's needs. However, the criminals spent the collected money on personal expenses rather than on aiding the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The fraudsters have now been charged, and they face up to eight years in prison.
