Moldova ready to help Transnistria

Moldovan President Maia Sandu stated that the energy crisis in Transnistria is the result of actions by the Russian company Gazprom, despite the existence of a gas supply contract with Moldova. 

In an interview with journalists published on the TV8 channel, Sandu emphasised that residents of Transnistria are facing difficulties, and Moldova is ready to provide them with the necessary assistance.

The Moldovan leader highlighted that the cause of the crisis is Gazprom's refusal to supply gas. "We have a contract with Gazprom, under which the company is obliged to supply gas. 

There is an alternative route via the TurkStream pipeline, so the problem is not that gas cannot pass through Ukraine", Sandu explained.

She emphasised that Gazprom's decision to halt gas supplies was the main cause of the current problems. "We are ready to help by providing generators and medicines. People can cross to the right bank if they need medical assistance or help with other issues", she added.
