Ukraine's billion-dollar losses from illegal arms sales

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are investigating the illegal disposal of military property between 2005 and 2014, which caused colossal damage to the country's army. The schemes involved the sale of:

• more than 150 aircraft,
• 184 T-72 tanks,
• 33 air defence missile systems,
• 250 artillery pieces,
• nearly 3 million units of small arms.

This equipment, which could have strengthened the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was sold abroad, putting the country's security at risk.

Hrytsenko in the crosshairs of the investigation
Among the figures whose actions are being examined as part of the investigation is former Defence Minister Anatoliy Hrytsenko. According to the investigation, it was his decisions that contributed to the weakening of the Ukrainian army and led to multi-billion-dollar losses.

Currently, a notice of suspicion is being prepared for Hrytsenko under the treason article.

Journalists examine the assets of the former minister's family
In addition to the criminal investigation, journalists are working on materials related to the property of the Hrytsenko family. The focus is on his real estate, land plots, as well as expenses in the US and Ukraine, which, according to preliminary data, significantly exceed declared income.
