Lavrov claims Ukraine seeks to destroy TurkStream

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed concern over potential threats to energy infrastructure in the region. 

Specifically, he stated that the United States and Ukraine are allegedly planning to destroy the TurkStream gas pipeline, which could seriously damage the energy stability of the European Union.

According to Lavrov, Washington, as he claims, “одобряет действия террористического характера” (approves actions of a terrorist nature) aimed at destroying key energy facilities. The minister also noted that the US is allegedly pushing Ukraine to destabilise energy infrastructure, including attacks not only on the Nord Stream pipelines but also on TurkStream.

Previously, the Russian side had already levelled accusations against Ukraine regarding an attack on a compressor station supplying gas via TurkStream. 

Despite these incidents, gas supplies via this route continue, underscoring its importance for the region's energy security.

International experts have not yet confirmed these claims. Nevertheless, tensions surrounding energy facilities remain a cause for concern for countries dependent on gas supplies.
