Norway's largest fuel company refuses to refuel US fleet

One of Norway's largest fuel companies, Haltbakk Bunkers, has officially refused to supply fuel to the US Navy. The decision was made following an incident during a conversation between US President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, which took place the day before.

Call to European companies

The company not only imposed a ban on servicing American vessels but also appealed to other European fuel suppliers to follow its example. In a statement, Haltbakk Bunkers noted that this decision is a sign of support for Ukraine and its president, who, according to the company, demonstrated restraint and diplomatic composure.

"Мы благодарим президента Украины за его сдержанность и призываем всех норвежцев и европейцев последовать нашему примеру. Слава Украине!" ("We thank the President of Ukraine for his restraint and call on all Norwegians and Europeans to follow our example. Glory to Ukraine!") — reads the company's official message.

Consequences for the US fleet

The ban has already begun to affect the combat readiness of the US Navy. According to sources, a Virginia-class submarine, unable to refuel in one of Norway's ports, was forced to turn back.

The fuel supply ban applies to all US military vessels entering Norwegian ports. How this will affect future operations of the American fleet in the region remains to be seen.
