Korban admits to breaking the law

Former deputy governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Hennadiy Korban decided to make a heartfelt confession today. The oligarch publicly stated on his internet page that he had repeatedly broken the law while in public service.

 

«Уважаемые друзья и подписчики! (Dear friends and subscribers!)

Хочу сделать признание, которого от меня давно все ждут.
Очень часто мне задают вопрос: нарушал ли я закон, находясь на государственной службе? И, если нарушал - то как часто, и как дерзко? (I want to make a confession that everyone has been waiting for from me for a long time. I am often asked: did I break the law while in public service? And if I did, how often, and how brazenly?)

Хочу всем ответить на этот вопрос один раз и навсегда. (I want to answer this question for everyone once and for all.)

Да! Я нарушал закон. Я это делал много раз. Делал вполне сознательно и порой даже дерзко. (Yes! I broke the law. I did it many times. I did it quite consciously and sometimes even brazenly.)

Я нарушал закон, когда был вынужден поставить грузовики на рельсы - для того, чтобы поезда из Донецка, набитые сепарами, не могли доехать до Днепра. (I broke the law when I was forced to place trucks on the rails so that trains from Donetsk, packed with separatists, could not reach Dnipro.)

Я нарушал закон, когда пришлось в мае 2014 года загрузить избирательные бюллетени в десять ритуальных авто и развозить их по округам четырех районов Донецкой области, для того чтобы выборы Президента состоялись на территории всей страны без исключения, и для того чтобы не дать повод врагам Украины заявить об их нелегитимности. (I broke the law when, in May 2014, I had to load ballot papers into ten hearse vehicles and distribute them across the districts of four districts of Donetsk Oblast, so that the Presidential election would take place in every part of the country without exception, and so as not to give Ukraine's enemies a pretext to claim its illegitimacy.)

Я нарушал закон, когда отдавал приказы под личные гарантии без загранпаспортов отправлять наших раненных чартером в Литву на реабилитацию. (I broke the law when I issued orders, under personal guarantees, to send our wounded by charter to Lithuania for rehabilitation without foreign passports.)

Я нарушал закон, когда вел переговоры с главарями сепаратистов об обмене ранеными и пленными, и допуске на оккупированные территории волонтеров, которые забирали тела наших погибших бойцов. (I broke the law when I negotiated with separatist leaders about exchanging the wounded and prisoners, and allowing volunteers onto occupied territories to retrieve the bodies of our fallen fighters.)

Я нарушал закон, когда в жесткой форме требовал у бывшего министра обороны Гелетея отдать приказ на вывод наших войск из-под Иловайска. (I broke the law when I demanded in a harsh manner from former Defence Minister Hletei to issue an order to withdraw our troops from Ilovaisk.)

Я нарушал закон, когда давил на местных силовиков для того, чтобы они выполняли свои прямые обязанности по борьбе с агентами влияния, диверсантами, террористами, коррупционерами Януковича и расследованию преступлений против Майдана. (I broke the law when I pressured local security officials to perform their direct duties in fighting agents of influence, saboteurs, terrorists, Yanukovych's corrupt officials, and investigating crimes against Maidan.)

Ради чего я это делал? Вам решать и вам судить. (For what purpose did I do this? It is up to you to decide and judge.)

Нарушают ли закон силовики, когда используют добровольцев для поимки сепаратистов, которыми пополняется "обменный фонд", а потом арестовывают тех же добровольцев, и применяя пытки и насилие, вешают на них разбой и другие преступления? Да. (Do security officials break the law when they use volunteers to catch separatists, who are added to the "exchange fund," and then arrest those same volunteers, using torture and violence to pin robbery and other crimes on them? Yes.)

Нарушают ли закон чиновники в Киеве и на местах, когда продолжают цинично воровать? Да. (Do officials in Kyiv and in the regions break the law when they continue to steal cynically? Yes.)

Нарушают ли закон так называемые "оппозиционеры", такие как Вилкул&Co, когда интегрируются в систему власти и получают от нее ресурсы для своего реванша? Да. (Do so-called "opposition" figures, such as Vilkul & Co, break the law when they integrate into the power system and receive resources from it for their revenge? Yes.)

Ради чего это делают они? Судить опять же вам. (For what purpose do they do this? It is up to you to judge again.)

Сегодня многие высокопоставленные деятели вынуждают меня покинуть страну, обвиняя в нарушении закона. Так вот, я никуда не уеду. (Today, many high-ranking figures are forcing me to leave the country, accusing me of breaking the law. Well, I am not going anywhere.)

На эти обвинения я отвечаю: когда в ваш дом ломится грабитель, насильник и убийца - вы стреляете на поражение. Хотя по закону первый выстрел - в воздух. (I answer these accusations as follows: when a robber, rapist, and murderer is breaking into your house, you shoot to kill. Although by law, the first shot should be into the air.)

Да! Я нарушал законы, но не Заповеди.
И если судить меня - то по сути, и по совести. (Yes! I broke laws, but not the Commandments. And if you are to judge me, do so by substance and by conscience.)

А те, кто якобы живут по законам, но нарушают Заповеди - пусть по закону и ответят. (And those who supposedly live by the laws but break the Commandments should answer according to the law.)

It is unlikely that Kolomoisky's deputy's confession will become a reason for opening another criminal case against him and his entire team, of which more than enough have already been opened.
