Carlos Slim, one of Latin America's wealthiest businessmen, has decided to terminate his partnership with Elon Musk's Starlink.

Reason for the split — a scandalous tweet

According to sources, the relationship ended because Musk published a statement on Twitter hinting at possible links between Slim and organised crime. Just minutes after the post, the Mexican billionaire announced the termination of all Starlink contracts in Latin America.

As a result, Musk's company lost its largest regional partner, with financial losses estimated at $7 billion.

Investment redirection: a blow to the US

Shortly after the split with Starlink, Slim announced that his five-year investment plans would now be implemented in collaboration with European and Chinese companies. Consequently, Musk is losing a further $22 billion.

Thus, one careless tweet has cost Musk not only billions of dollars but also weakened his company's influence in 25 countries.
