European Union increases purchases of Russian liquefied natural gas to record levels

According to Politico, volumes of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) imported into Europe have reached an all-time high.

In the first 15 days of 2025, 27 European countries purchased 837,300 metric tonnes of LNG from Russia, a 10% increase compared to the same period last year, when delivery volumes stood at 760,100 tonnes.

Almost all of this gas comes from a plant in Yamal, which accounts for 95-96% of Russian gas supplies to Europe.
