Europe faces rise in sexually transmitted infections

In recent years, Europe has experienced a genuine surge in sexually transmitted diseases. According to the news, incidence has increased by 300% since 2014, raising concerns among medical professionals. The problem has particularly affected young people, where a significant rise in the number of cases is observed.

In the last year, the number of new gonorrhoea cases in Europe increased by 31%, reaching a mark of 100,000 cases. This is also 300% higher compared to 2014. Meanwhile, the number of syphilis cases rose by 13%, amounting to 40,000 patients.

Among the causes of this growth are reduced condom use and a higher number of sexual partners. Experts emphasise that these factors significantly contribute to the spread of infections among the population.
