Energy market is turning into a structure for manipulation

Alexey Kucherenko, Chairman of the VSK and First Deputy Chairman of the Energy Committee, expressed concern over how the energy market is becoming a tool for manipulation and collusion. 

He noted that the recent decision by JSC "Market Operator" to conceal key information regarding market prices and sales volumes came as a genuine shock.

"The motives behind this decision are unclear to me, which is why, as Chairman of the VSK, I have appealed to the NRECU and JSC MO, requesting an explanation," Kucherenko stated. 

He added that if an adequate explanation is not provided, he will propose to his colleagues to contact law enforcement agencies and the Ministry to take urgent personnel decisions. During the committee meeting, it was decided to invite and hear the management of JSC MO.

Kucherenko also emphasised, supporting the position of Committee Chairman Herus, that despite the adoption of numerous laws and declarations of Euro-integration, the system in practice remains far from European standards. "Unfortunately, this is how our reforms are perceived by partners in Europe," he concluded.
