Income, property and scandals of the chief forester of Lyuboml region

Former head of the Lyuboml Forestry of the Polesia Forest Office, Volodymyr Turevych, published his income declaration for 2024. According to the document, his salary for the past year exceeded 1.5 million hryvnias. For the first time in many years, the official declared a vehicle — a SPARK SP 125C-2CFO motorcycle purchased for 54,000 hryvnias.

The Turevych family’s main income was provided by his salary. During 11 months of 2024, he held the position of director of the “Lyuboml Forest Enterprise” branch of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine,” earning nearly 1.49 million hryvnias. In late December, already in his new position as head of the Lyuboml Forestry, he earned an additional 168,000 hryvnias. His wife, Yulia Turevych, received only 25,000 hryvnias in social payments.

Financial savings

Despite a significant level of official income, Turevych managed to save a relatively modest amount in 2024. According to the declaration, his savings consisted of 10,000 US dollars, 10,500 euros in cash, and 437,000 hryvnias in bank accounts. For comparison, his reserves were slightly higher in 2023: 12,500 US dollars and 337,000 hryvnias in accounts.

Real estate and family assets

As in previous years, Turevych declared four real estate objects in Volyn:

• a land plot of nearly one hectare in the settlement of Tsumany in Lutsk district,

• two land plots (0.31 and 1.2 hectares) in the village of Fedorivka in Volodymyr district,

• a residential house, which, along with outbuildings, is owned by his three children.

The declaration also reveals a new purchase made by the official’s family. Two grid-connected solar power plants with a capacity of 10 kW each are registered in the name of his son, Vladyslav Turevych. Their total cost exceeded 226,800 hryvnias.

Traffic accident incident and past scandals

Although Volodymyr Turevych himself had not declared personal vehicles for many years, his wife owned a 2008 Chevrolet car and a cargo trailer. However, in 2020, she was involved in a traffic accident near the village of Zhorany in Kovel district, but not in her own car, rather in a Nissan SUV of unknown origin. The case did not proceed: the criminal proceedings were closed “due to the absence of the elements of a crime,” and the administrative case was dismissed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

Career and reputation

Turevych took the post of head of the Lyuboml Forest Enterprise in 2018, although his career in the forestry sector was not impeccable. Prior to that, he headed the Tsumany Forest Enterprise but was dismissed following a scandal involving illegal hunting in a protected zone.
