Dnipro councillors enjoy a holiday in the Maldives

Councillors from the circle of Dnipro mayor Borys Filatov decided to spend their holiday in the Maldives, disregarding the difficult situation in the country. On 16 September 2024, Serhiy Pustovoy and Yevhen Kryshev, councillors from the “Proposal” party, along with Kamil Primakov, a councillor from “European Solidarity”, travelled to the luxury resort Vakkaru Maldives with their families. They actively shared photos and videos from parties on social media.

According to media reports, in order to travel abroad, the councillors obtained permission from Borys Filatov, who signed off on their business trip to an international conference on the city’s reconstruction. However, instead of participating in the conference, the elected representatives spent a significant amount of money on a holiday in the midst of the war. During their leave, the councillors’ wives displayed expensive jewellery, the cost of which could have covered the expenses for hundreds of drones for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

For instance, Yevhen Kryshev’s wife, Olga, was adorned with a Van Cleef necklace worth almost 13,000 euros, a Cartier ring for 14,400 euros, earrings for 4,450 euros, and bracelets totalling more than 11,000 euros. Councillor Kamil Primakov’s wife also did not go unnoticed: her Cartier jewellery was worth more than 150,000 euros, while the councillor himself displayed Rolex watches costing 25,000 dollars.

For Dnipro’s representatives of power, the costs of a holiday in the Maldives seem insignificant. Serhiy Pustovoy, the head of the “Proposal” faction in the city council, who oversees land issues, regularly declares millions in income from his notarial activities. In 2023, his income amounted to almost 10 million hryvnias.
