Death toll from Russian airstrikes on Syria rises

Today the Russian Federation's air force carried out airstrikes on residential areas in Syria's Homs province. As a result, at least 70 civilians were killed, including around 10 children. Several hundred people were injured, many of them in critical condition.

The number of victims is rising by the hour.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defence claims that the airstrikes targeted terrorist equipment and warehouses: “In accordance with the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces, Vladimir Putin, aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) began conducting an air operation today, carrying out precision strikes on ground targets of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Russian Defence Minister, General of the Army Sergey Shoygu, informed his CSTO colleagues that during the air operation in Syria, Russian VKS aircraft are striking military equipment, communication hubs, vehicles, and warehouses of weapons, ammunition, and fuel and lubricants belonging to IS terrorists”.
