Millionaire blogger Yulia Verba finds herself at the centre of a scandal
Well-known blogger Yulia Verba, who has a multi-million-strong audience, came under fire on social media after publishing entertainment content in which the Ukrainian national flag was used as a decorative element.
The users' reaction was swift: in the comments, the influencer was accused of devaluing national symbols. Amid the backlash, Yulia Verba reached out to her followers, assuring them that she had never intended to publish content that could demean her country.
The scandal arose following a series of photos and videos in which the blue-and-yellow flag was used not as a symbol of support for the country or in the context of the war, but as a decorative backdrop for entertainment content. In the foreground of the shots, Yulia Verba poses with a colleague in a tight leopard-print outfit, emphasising a revealing image and poses.
In the background, however, is the Ukrainian flag with an image of the blogger herself printed on it. The photos offended not only the blogger's female followers but also military personnel.
