Preparation of suspicion for National Bank head
MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who heads the parliamentary temporary investigative committee, stated that a suspicion is being prepared by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau regarding Andriy Pyshnyi, head of the National Bank of Ukraine. According to the politician, this matter has been discussed for a long time, and it involves at least two episodes known to the committee members.
Reaction to searches and calls for resignation
On 21 October, media outlets and MPs reported that searches were conducted at Pyshnyi's premises by the NABU and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. Despite this, no official notification of suspicion has been issued as of this time.
In this situation, Zheleznyak called on the NBU head to voluntarily submit his resignation. The MP proposed that the Verkhovna Rada be able to consider this matter as early as 26 October.
Prospects for leading the bank
According to the MP's forecast, in the event of Pyshnyi's dismissal, the duties of the National Bank head will be performed by First Deputy Serhiy Nikolaichuk. Zheleznyak also named Nikolaichuk the most likely candidate for a permanent appointment to this position.
