Personnel changes and punishment of the guilty
In his address, President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasised the need to punish all individuals involved in the crimes and acts of violence that came to light this week. The head of state noted that dismissals have already taken place within the Security Service of Ukraine, with further personnel decisions expected ahead.
He characterised the recent news regarding the SBU's activities as frankly unpleasant and unacceptable. According to Zelensky, the investigation must establish all the circumstances of the events, and those who ordered the crimes and violence against people must face punishment.
Investigation of the "Khimprom" case with partner involvement
The President stressed that the full investigation of the activities of the so-called "Khimprom" requires the support of international partners. He stated that this issue had already been discussed with the United States at the appropriate level.
Zelensky added that there is information about this criminal's possible activities in Poland and attempts to enter the German market with synthetic drugs. Ukraine will share all available information with its partners.
Return of mandatory asset declaration
In addition to personnel changes, the head of state announced the approval of a bill providing for the return of mandatory asset declaration for all SBU employees. In his words, this will make the lifestyle and assets of staff subject to verification and accountability.
The President emphasised that this approach should be applied as in other state bodies, including not only law enforcement agencies. Zelensky called on Members of Parliament to adopt the relevant law without delay.
Results of the "Alpha" unit
At the same time, the President noted that the "Alpha" unit provides the highest number of strikes against Russian occupiers. He expressed hope that all other components of the SBU would achieve similar results.
