Yandex has removed information on the locations of four data centres belonging to its Cloud platform from its digital maps. This became known thanks to a publication by the media outlet Verstka.

Which facilities disappeared from the map

The blurring concerns infrastructure facilities where the company's cloud infrastructure is located. According to journalists, the hidden data centres are located in the following regions:

  • Moscow Oblast (Mytishchi);
  • Ryazan Oblast (Sasovo);
  • Kaluga Oblast (Kaluga);
  • Vladimir Oblast (Vladimir).

Concealment mechanism and consequences of the attack

It turned out that in satellite view mode, these areas on the map are covered by blurry patches. If a user attempts to specify the exact address of one of these facilities, the service will not confirm its presence at the indicated point.

Among the hidden facilities is a data centre in Sasovo, where a fire occurred on 8 October 2026 as a result of a drone strike. The exact time when Yandex decided to remove these locations from public access has not yet been established.

It is worth noting that other organisations are also located on the territory of these facilities. However, their locations on the map are indicated inaccurately.
