WSJ: Trump-Zelensky relations hit lowest point after Oval Office incident

Relations between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky are in their worst state since their conflict in the Oval Office, which took place in early 2025. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Risks for European diplomacy

As the publication notes, harsh criticism of the Ukrainian president by the American leader could cast doubt on the results of 18 months of efforts by European leaders. Their main goal was to persuade the US president not to cease support for Ukraine and to maintain pressure on Russia.

Discussion of intelligence in Miami

WSJ also reveals details of negotiations that took place in Miami, where the exchange of intelligence information was discussed among other issues. According to four sources for the publication, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner repeatedly reminded the Ukrainian delegation of all the assistance provided by the US, which included the transfer of intelligence data.

They insisted on fulfilling Trump's request to stop strikes on Russian oil refineries.

Hidden hints

Two participants of the meeting claim that no direct threats to stop the exchange of intelligence data were made during the talks. However, according to other WSJ sources, a hidden hint at such a possibility "was obvious".
