Telegram announces large-scale purge: 1Win, WinPlay and millions of bots blocked

Telegram carried out its largest wave of blocks in recent times, removing over 3 million channels, bots and groups linked to shadow schemes. Among them were the popular platforms 1Win and WinPlay, which had been actively operating via the messenger. 

Mass blocks in Telegram
Since the start of the year, the messenger has set a record for the number of deleted accounts, with a third of them blocked in just the last three days. This indicates that the platform has tightened control over content violating its policy.

Changing the rules of the game
Notably, just two months ago, Telegram launched a partner programme for mini-apps, bots and channels. The online casino 1Win quickly rose to the top in terms of profitability among apps. However, its activity in Telegram is now banned.

What the authorities could not do, the messenger did
This move by Telegram demonstrates the effectiveness of the platform's internal mechanisms in combating illegal content. What Ukrainian security services, such as the SBU and the State Service of Special Communications, had long failed to achieve, was unexpectedly accomplished by Pavel Durov's own company. 

Presumably, this is far from the last wave of blocks, and users will soon see new restrictions on similar projects.
