AMCU approves change of owner of HarvEast
On 5 November, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine granted PARALLEL NAFTA LIMITED permits to acquire control over the holding structures UA AGROCOM LIMITED and UAC FINANCE LIMITED. These companies, registered in Tortola on the British Virgin Islands, are the parent companies of the HarvEast agri-group.
With the conclusion of the deal, the exit of Rinat Akhmetov's holding from the agricultural sector is completed, SCM reports. The buyer is Oleksandr Dubinin, owner of the Parallel gas station chain. The parties agreed not to disclose the deal amount.
Strategic refocusing of investments
SCM explains that this transaction is a logical step under martial law. It allows the company to concentrate its investment portfolio on priority areas.
(For SCM, this deal is a step dictated by wartime and continues our strategy of focusing the investment portfolio. The capital received will be reinvested in the development of key business areas in Ukraine and in helping the country through the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, the 'Heart of Azovstal' and 'Steel Front' projects, says SCM Communications Director Nataliia Yemchenko.)
Preservation of operational activities
SCM's representative emphasises that the change of investor will not affect the current operations of the HarvEast agri-group and its obligations.
(All operational processes are continuing in normal mode, and agreements with partners, shareholders, landlords and local communities are preserved in full both during the period of concluding the deal and after its closure during 2027, the official statement says.)
Comment from HarvEast management
HarvEast CEO Dmytro Skornyakov confirmed the fact of preparing the deal. According to him, the process took some time, so the company did not come as a surprise to the management and the team.
(Yes, the deal is planned to be concluded. That is, SCM plans to sell its stake in HarvEast to Dubinin. This deal has been in preparation for some time, so it is not a surprise for me or the team, Skornyakov said.)
He clarified that after the completion of the procedure, the buyer will receive a controlling share of the shares, although the exact size of the stake is not disclosed. Oleksandr Dubinin has no intention of changing the current management of the agro-holding.
(We have a normal human contact with him. As far as I understand, he is satisfied with the team that is working today, including the CEO. And he has no intention of making any sharp moves, Skornyakov said.)
In addition, the HarvEast CEO noted that the potential buyer has ambitious plans for the development of the agro-holding and has already discussed certain investment issues with him. Skornyakov refused to disclose the details of these plans, citing the incompleteness of the deal.
