Russian strikes hindered implementation of previous project

Before the implementation of the Fire Point system, the Ukrainian side attempted to establish its own missile production, but these initiatives were halted as a result of Russian actions. This was stated by aviation expert Valeriy Romanenko.

Details on the suspension of work on the Sarmat project

According to the specialist, there was another project that was named Sarmat or had a similar designation. However, the Russian side outpaced the Ukrainian developers in time.

(There was another project before, but the Russians got ahead of us. It was called Sarmat, or something very similar. Right before the launch, they struck the missile manufacturing plant, the enterprise that produced solid-fuel engines, the backup plant, and two or three key component suppliers. After that, the programme ceased to exist on its own), Romanenko said.

The expert emphasised that after a series of precision strikes on production facilities and component supply chains, work on the programme effectively stopped.
