Occupation authorities in Mariupol forcibly evict residents from housing in the city centre

Systematic pressure on property owners

In Mariupol, which is under Russian occupation, authorities are demanding that local residents vacate their apartments. These actions are taking place in parallel with the distribution of so-called "compensatory housing". The occupation "administration" is increasingly officially declaring people's residence in these apartments to be illegal.

Active measures in central districts

Petro Andriushchenko, head of the Centre for the Study of Occupation, reported on the situation. According to his data, the most intense eviction processes have been recorded in the central parts of the city, where real estate has the highest market value.

As Andriushchenko notes, on Myrny Avenue, representatives of the occupation authorities attempted to evict almost all residents of one of the apartment buildings. When residents refused to remain silent and began openly expressing their outrage, Ignat Yaremchuk, deputy head of the occupation administration of Mariupol, personally arrived to calm the situation.

Intimidation of activists
