Limiting operating hours of educational institutions

The occupation authorities in Mariupol are preparing to shorten the duration of the school day in schools and preschools. The main reason for these changes is cited as systemic problems with power supply.

This is reported by the Centre for the Study of Occupation.

Dependence on the state of the grid

Experts refer to a statement by a representative of the so-called "People's Council of the DPR", Serhiy Yarosh. According to him, if power outages become prolonged and it becomes impossible to provide children with hot meals, educational institutions will operate only until 12:00.

At the same time, the occupation administration has not defined clear time criteria for switching to such a mode.

Context of the infrastructure crisis

These measures are being introduced against the backdrop of constant failures in the operation of the power grid. The city also experiences water pump stoppages and communication disruptions.
