The international Level Up beauty championship for hairdressers and colourists took place in Barcelona. After the event, one of the participants published a detailed account of the competition's organisation and claimed there were significant discrepancies between the promised conditions and reality.

According to her, participation in the categories cost the professionals thousands of euros. Materials, transfers, and model preparation were paid for separately. Judging positions, the participant claims, cost from €2,500. The organisers also involved sponsors who paid for stands and provided gifts for the prize fund.

Event conditions

Participants, according to the author of the post, were promised professional photo and video coverage, extensive promotional support for the judges, international documents for teaching purposes, and valuable prizes, including jewellery, trips, cruises, and a car.

Instead, the competition was held in premises the participant describes as unprepared warehouses. She states that there were problems with ventilation, lighting, and working conditions.

A separate issue was the lack of full access to water. Professionals had to use three external salons located approximately a five-minute walk from the main venue. It is claimed that these salons experienced interruptions in cold and hot water supply, as well as lighting issues in the evening.

As a result, some procedures were performed by the professionals using phone torches.

Schedule disruption

According to the participant, the event started with a significant delay. Her own category was scheduled to begin at 15:00, but work with the model actually started around 18:30.

The schedule shift also affected model preparation. Specifically, the author of the post claims that her makeup was initially supposed to be done before toning, but due to the delays, the organisers informed them there was no time.

The award ceremony, scheduled for 20:10 on the second day, began at approximately 23:00, according to her.

Questions regarding judging and prizes

Specific complaints concerned the judging system. The author claims that in some categories, only second place was announced, without first or third, and the principle of point calculation was not explained to the participants.

Questions also arose regarding the documents. Instead of a certificate, which, according to the participant, was supposed to grant the right to teach, her professional received a printed document whose professional status is questionable.

Separately, the author spoke about the promised car as the main prize. According to her, during the final award ceremony, several professionals were first announced as winners of a cruise, after which a judge stated that no participant deserved the car.

Thus, the participant questioned whether the actual organisation of Level Up corresponded to the declared level of the event and the promised conditions. The complaints presented are the position of the participant and require confirmation by documents and comments from the organisers.
