German far-right political force Alternative for Germany (AfD) has expressed its intention to act as a mediator in resolving the war on Ukrainian territory. Party leaders plan to initiate a summit involving representatives of the United States and Russia, but without the presence of the Ukrainian side.

Plans for trilateral negotiations

As reported by Le Monde, Marcus Frömmayer made such a statement. He holds the position of deputy chair of the AfD parliamentary group in the Bundestag and is a member of the German parliament’s foreign affairs committee.

According to Frömmayer, the party is deliberately working on organising a trilateral meeting between Germany, Russia and the US. The planned venue is Abu Dhabi, and the timing is spring 2027. Ukraine is not intended to be involved in this process.

Links with international institutions

AfD representatives claim to have established contacts with the US State Department, as well as with members of President Donald Trump’s advisory team.

In addition, the party confirms having links with the Russian Federation’s Foreign Ministry, the administration of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, and the corresponding Russian intelligence structures.
