Accusations of energy market manipulation

A segment of American Republicans and representatives of the conservative camp are expressing dissatisfaction with the actions of President Volodymyr Zelensky related to strikes on Russian oil refineries. According to them, such attacks may contribute to rising fuel prices in the US, worsening the electoral prospects of Republicans ahead of the Congressional midterm elections scheduled for 3 November.

Position of MAGA movement supporters

As reported by journalist Ostap Yarish, among followers of the MAGA movement, a narrative is actively spreading that the Ukrainian president is allegedly deliberately continuing the offensive on Russian oil refining industry facilities to harm Republicans before the vote.

Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy stated that Zelensky continues to attack refineries, thereby complicating the position of the US president ahead of the midterm elections.

Calls to halt support

Conservative blogger Jack Posobiec also accused the Ukrainian president of attempting to harm Donald Trump. He called for an immediate cessation of the transfer of intelligence data to Ukraine and the provision of any financial assistance.

Republican Senator Mike Lee stated that Zelensky is allegedly making excessive efforts to help Democrats in the November elections.

Situation analysis

According to Yarish's assessment, such statements are an attempt by Trump supporters to place responsibility on Ukraine for rising fuel prices in the US. The journalist also noted that there are three weeks left until voting day and suggested that during this time Ukraine may face new accusations from American conservatives.
