As of now, based on applications from facility heads, heat is being supplied to 50% of social infrastructure objects. Specifically, 402 kindergartens, 85 schools, and 157 medical facilities have been connected.
Vitali Klitschko explained that it takes up to a week to fully launch Kyiv’s centralised heating network, which is among the largest in Europe and covers approximately 3,000 km. This is why the decision to start heating in the residential sector was made a few days before the expected sharp drop in temperatures.

Тому рішення розпочати опалювальний сезон у житловому секторі столиця ухвалила за декілька днів до різкого зниження температури», – повідомив Кличко. According to the generally accepted norm, the heating season in Ukrainian cities begins when the average daily air temperature remains below +8 degrees for three consecutive days. Due to Russian strikes, the heating season has been under threat year after year since the start of the full-scale war. Russia deliberately targets energy facilities, aiming to leave Ukrainians without heating during the frosts.
