Chinese scientists find way to make immune system fight cancer

Scientists from China have presented a revolutionary breakthrough in oncology that could change the approach to cancer treatment. The genetically modified virus they created has a unique ability to “mask” cancer cells as pig tissue, which activates the body’s immune response aimed at destroying tumours.

How the new method works

The mechanism of this technology involves the virus altering the structure of cancer cells, causing the immune system to perceive them as foreign elements, similar to organs that are rejected after transplantation. This triggers the activation of immune cells, which begin to destroy tumours without affecting the body’s healthy tissues. Thus, the method significantly minimises the side effects characteristic of traditional cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy.

Notable clinical trial results

The initial results of the method’s application show that in 90% of patients with severe forms of cancer, including liver, lung, and ovarian tumours, the tumours either shrank significantly or completely stopped growing. In one case of cervical cancer, doctors reported the successful clinical cure of the patient.
