Technical malfunction restricts network access
On 11 October, internet provider Kievnet recorded a technical failure in the operation of its own DNS servers. Due to this malfunction, some users are unable to open websites and use certain online services. Company representatives informed about the situation in their official Telegram channel, appealing to subscribers for understanding.
«Наразі зафіксовано технічний збій у роботі наших DNS-серверів. Через це у частини абонентів можуть тимчасово не завантажуватися сайти та деякі інтернет-сервіси» (A technical failure has currently been recorded in the operation of our DNS servers. As a result, websites and some internet services may temporarily fail to load for some subscribers), Kievnet stated in a message.
Specialists working to restore services
The provider assured that technical specialists are already engaged in resolving the issue. The company apologised to clients for the temporary inconvenience and promised to fully restore service operations in the near future. Meanwhile, the operator has not yet specified exact deadlines for completing the repair work, stating that the situation is under control.
Context of telecom infrastructure instability
This incident occurred against the backdrop of general connectivity instability in the capital. In recent weeks, providers in Kyiv have regularly recorded technical failures and infrastructure damage. Experts note that data centres and backbone network nodes in the city are largely concentrated in a few districts. Due to such concentration, even pinpoint damage can simultaneously paralyse internet access for thousands of subscribers of different companies.
Telecom industry specialists advise users to have backup connectivity options in case of new failures, including a backup internet provider, an additional SIM card from another operator, and cash. It remains unknown whether the failure at Kievnet is linked to strikes on critical infrastructure facilities or is purely a technical malfunction of the company's equipment.
