Unstable power supply situation

Energy company DTEK reported that the consequences of the overnight Russian strike on energy infrastructure have caused instability in the power supply system. According to business representatives, electricity disconnection plans may be reviewed and changed several times within a single hour.

Damage to key facilities

DTEK notes that the attack damaged the company's energy facility in Kyiv Oblast, as well as Ukrenergo substations. It is through these substations that electricity from nuclear power plants is supplied to Kyiv, Kyiv Oblast, and other regions in the central part of the country.

Capacity limitations and mode changes

Due to the sustained damage, the transmission capacity of the power grids has decreased, resulting in less electricity being transmitted. Hourly outages are currently in effect in most regions. Meanwhile, emergency blackouts have been introduced in Kyiv Oblast, during which standard schedules are not applied.

Obstacles to restoration

An additional complication for the rapid restoration of energy infrastructure remains the air raid alerts. Repair work has to be suspended while they are in effect.

DTEK has not yet specified concrete deadlines for returning to the normal power supply mode.
