Lack of strategy to protect critical facilities

Ukrainian government representatives have privately admitted that the country does not have a sufficiently developed plan of action in the event of large-scale enemy attacks on the water supply system. This is reported by The New York Times, citing its own sources.

The publication notes that officials are expressing concern about the limited number of contingency scenarios in case of serious disruptions to water supply for the population.

Details of intercepted Russian plan

Previously, Russia had never carried out systematic strikes on water infrastructure facilities. However, according to a document allegedly intercepted in Ukraine, Moscow plans to target dozens of ballistic missiles and glide bombs at this sector.

The Russian plan states that the main targets will be pumping stations and treatment facilities that ensure the operation of the water supply system in Ukraine.
