Drone attack on Institute of Nuclear Research in Kyiv causes fire

UAV strike on capital's scientific facility

Last evening, an unmanned aerial vehicle attacked the grounds of the Institute of Nuclear Research, located in Kyiv. This scientific institution is known for hosting a VVR-M type research reactor.

The incident was officially reported by the State Nuclear Regulatory Authority of Ukraine.

Impact of the strike and safety status

The impact caused a fire on the institute's premises. However, according to the regulator, the research reactor itself, as well as the critical safety systems, remained intact and sustained no damage.

Experts confirmed that no deviations in radiation background levels were recorded following the attack.
