Nova Poshta and police agree on joint operations

We recently reported on the increasing number of cases involving the shipment of prohibited items from “frontline” areas. Among other things, people were sending ammunition, drugs, and stolen goods. To prevent such incidents, the police reached an agreement with the management of the courier service “Nova Poshta” that all parcels will now be accepted in an open state. Household appliances will only be sent if factory documents are present, which will significantly complicate the work of looters.

 “Today we held a joint meeting of the heads of units of the regional headquarters, the Mariupol city administration, and district police departments with representatives of the Nova Poshta courier delivery service, led by Oleksandr Saranchuk.

There are instances of looting in the frontline zone. Stolen goods, including via the Nova Poshta network in Donetsk Oblast, are being sent to other regions. There are also cases of weapons and ammunition being sent to our region through branches of this service.

We agreed to notify law enforcement officers upon the discovery of so-called “items prohibited from transport”: weapons, ammunition, explosives, drugs, and other suspicious items. Regarding “looted goods” – at Nova Poshta branches, primarily those located in the frontline zone, household appliances and related items will only be sent if factory documents or sales receipts confirming the purchase are present.

The management of Nova Poshta has committed to accepting items only in an open state upon dispatch. Furthermore, I was assured that all 44 branches in Donetsk Oblast will be equipped with video cameras, and that the issue of ensuring the operation of panic buttons by the Special Operations Directorate (GSO) of Donetsk Oblast will be examined in more detail.
