Explosion at Bosch facility in Germany

An explosion occurred at a Bosch site in the German town of Reutlingen, killing two people and injuring another.

According to the publication Bild, the tragedy was caused by a silane leak from a gas cylinder used for equipment calibration.

Police reported that a 52-year-old employee died at the scene, while his 44-year-old colleague died in hospital. Both men were employees of a third-party company. A third victim sustained injuries from the blast wave, but his life is not in danger.

The facility's alarm systems activated in a timely manner; however, the gas reacted with the air while the cause of the leak was being investigated, triggering a powerful explosion.

Investigators initially suspected the incident might have occurred during the replacement of a gas cylinder, but this theory has been disproven. The investigation is ongoing, and specialists are examining all the circumstances of the event.

Police stated that there is no danger to the town's residents and that no property damage has been recorded outside the facility.

The headquarters of Bosch's mobile electronics division in Reutlingen is involved in the production of semiconductors, sensors, and control systems.
