European Union refuses additional funding
The European Union has not agreed to meet Kyiv's request to accelerate loan disbursements and provide an additional $27 billion to cover the war budget deficit. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.
Similar information is confirmed by Euronews. According to the outlet, Brussels is effectively closing the discussion around the $27 billion deficit, stating that all of Ukraine's needs are already covered.
Brussels' position on funds
It is clarified that under the $90 billion loan and the Ukraine Facility programme, Ukraine is to receive approximately $37 billion by the end of the current year. EU representatives are convinced that these funds are sufficient "to provide Ukraine with a stable foundation".
It is worth noting that this amount had previously featured in statements by European officials. However, these funds were already factored into financing plans in advance. Thus, the European Union refused to allocate to Ukraine appropriations beyond the planned volume, considering that the additional $27 billion is not needed.
