Blood and feathers found in wreckage of South Korean plane

The investigation team working on the Jeju Air plane crash in South Korea in late December found bird feathers and traces of blood in both engines of the aircraft. This was reported by Reuters, citing a source familiar with the progress of the investigation.

According to South Korean authorities, approximately four minutes before the disaster, one of the pilots reported a bird strike, after which an emergency state was declared. The pilot attempted to land the plane at the opposite end of the runway.

Air traffic control warned the crew of "bird activity" in the area two minutes before the incident. The South Korean Ministry of Transport declined to comment on whether bird feathers and blood were found in the engines.
