Fire breaks out at Ritz hotel in Paris

A fire broke out at the Ritz, one of the most expensive and prestigious hotels in the centre of the French capital, around 7 am local time on 19 January.

The fire started on the top floor of the hotel. Fortunately, according to preliminary reports, no one was injured as the hotel was closed for renovation. Its reopening was scheduled for March this year. However, experts are already predicting that this date will be postponed. Exact details will emerge later, once the extent of the damage caused by the fire and its subsequent extinguishing has been assessed.

Fire and rescue services are working at the scene. There is no information yet on the cause of the fire.
