Exchange of 50 prisoners agreed in Minsk

The Trilateral Contact Group recently concluded a meeting in Minsk, after which both sides agreed that the ceasefire in the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone must be maintained, despite repeated violations during the New Year holidays.

In addition, an exchange of 50 prisoners from each side was agreed. Women, wounded and seriously ill prisoners will be released first.

The sides also agreed to allow international humanitarian organisations, in particular the Red Cross, access to the prisoners.

The sides continue to work on finding a way to hold elections in the uncontrolled part of Donbas in accordance with Ukrainian law.
