Calls to kill Tatars emerge in Crimea

Crimean Tatars are seriously concerned, and many are frightened by the situation on the peninsula. Reports regularly emerge about the disappearance of activists representing the Crimean Tatar people, with some found dead and others never located.

All dissidents and those with differing opinions are regularly summoned for interrogations.

Now, public calls to kill Tatars have emerged.

«Такие надписи появились в пгт.Молодежное Симферопольского района в Крыму...» (Such inscriptions appeared in the settlement of Molodyozhnoye in Simferopol district in Crimea...), Eskender Bariev wrote under a photograph posted on his page featuring the slogan "Tatars to the knife".

Some may say that such things are written on fences, however, in this case, such words do indeed pose a threat. There are many people today who crave retribution against the indigenous inhabitants of the peninsula, and such a call will surely find an echo.
