Two squirrel kits rescued in Kryvyi Rih

A powerful hurricane swept through several regions of Ukraine last week. As a result, not only plants but also animals were affected. In Kryvyi Rih, two young squirrel kits nearly perished due to strong gusts of wind.

The kits were likely in a tree that fell during the storm, which nearly caused their death. Fortunately, a young man was passing by. The man heard a faint squeaking from under the branches of a fallen poplar. Peering underneath, he found two baby squirrels. Their mother was not nearby.

The young man picked up the kits, placed them in a box, and gave them water to drink. The squirrel kits were very weak and barely breathing. Subsequently, the man sought help at a veterinary clinic. Doctors' forecasts

At the Kryvyi Rih clinic, specialists examined the squirrel kits. According to their assessment, the kits have a good chance of survival with proper care. They currently require full nutrition and rest.

To this end, the squirrel kits were handed over to a woman who is able to provide the animals with proper care.

Rehabilitation is expected to take approximately six weeks. Afterwards, the squirrel kits may be placed in a family. Unfortunately, they will no longer be able to return to the wild, as they are completely unaccustomed to life without humans. After rehabilitation, they will become ordinary pets and will surely bring joy to someone, as well as find people who will love them.

At the veterinary clinic, the squirrel kits will receive necessary vaccinations, be treated for parasites, and the owner will be given recommendations regarding diet and care.

It is important to understand that these are active animals that are unlikely to sit still or sleep curled up on the sofa. They require attention and patience. Therefore, only people who are prepared for this should take in a squirrel.

At the same time, squirrels bond with humans and often show their love just as brightly as cats or dogs. They also get lonely, seek affection, and climb onto people's hands.
