Morning phone use negatively affects mental abilities and mood, claims the Independent.
Scientists have established that the habit of immersing oneself in a smartphone screen within the first 30 minutes of waking up places a significant strain on the brain. This leads to a decline in cognitive functions, impaired concentration, and reduced overall well-being throughout the day.
The cause of this effect is so-called "sleep inertia". The brain requires time to transition smoothly from a state of sleep to active activity, but the smartphone disrupts this process.
Experts strongly recommend starting the morning with other activities: doing physical exercises, stretching, drinking water, or focusing on household chores. Any routine that excludes gadgets will help the brain adapt to wakefulness faster and set the tone for a productive day.
