Trump threatens Canada with new tariffs

US President Donald Trump once again made harsh statements towards Canada, threatening new trade tariffs. According to him, Ottawa unfairly uses tariff policy against American goods, imposing tariffs of 250% to 390% on agricultural products from the US.

Particular dissatisfaction was caused by the 25% surcharge on electricity announced by the authorities of the province of Ontario. Trump called this move illegal and promised that on 2 April, the US would introduce countermeasures.

Economic threats and ultimatums

In his speech, the politician noted that Canada has long abused trade relations with the United States, but now Washington no longer intends to tolerate this. As countermeasures, Trump proposed to abandon Canadian cars, timber and energy resources, stating that this would be a significant blow to the economy of the neighbouring country.
